Marcus Chen
Financial Advisor, Scotia Bank
The Challenge
After years working in retail, Marcus felt stuck. Banking seemed intimidating – all those regulations, complex products, and technical jargon. He'd applied for entry-level positions but kept getting rejected. "I knew I had good people skills, but I couldn't speak their language," he recalls.
The Breakthrough
Marcus started with our foundational modules in early 2024. What clicked was the way complex concepts were broken down into manageable pieces. The mortgage calculations that once seemed impossible became second nature after practicing with real scenarios.
Where He Is Today
Marcus now advises clients on investment strategies and loan products. His retail background actually became an asset – he understands customer service in ways many traditional bankers don't. He's planning to pursue his investment advisor certification in late 2025.
